Plain English Summary

  • TermsLens scans contracts, Terms of Service, and legal PDFs entirely in your browser — nothing leaves your device.
  • No document text, clause content, or risk analysis results are ever uploaded or transmitted.
  • No analytics, no telemetry, no third-party tracking of any kind.
  • The only external call is to ExtensionPay for optional licence validation — it never sees your documents.
  • You can uninstall at any time and all locally stored data is removed.

1. Who we are

TermsLens is a Chrome browser extension developed and published by ClickVaultHQ. It is a standalone client-side tool with no user accounts, no backend servers, and no cloud infrastructure required for its core function.

2. What TermsLens does with your documents

TermsLens helps you identify risky clauses in Terms of Service, contracts, NDAs, DPAs, and legal PDFs by scanning them across 10 risk dimensions.

All scanning and analysis happens entirely within your browser tab, using client-side JavaScript. No document text, extracted clauses, or risk analysis results are ever sent to any server — not ours, not anyone else’s.

The extension reads the document you have open, processes it locally, and displays the risk report on screen. That is the full extent of its data interaction.

3. What data is stored locally

TermsLens uses chrome.storage.local to persist a small amount of data on your device:

DataPurposeStored?Transmitted?
Document textParsed in-memory during scanningNever persistedNever
Risk analysis resultsDisplayed to you in the extension UISession onlyNever
Extension settingsYour preferences (display, export options)Yes — locallyNever
Licence / billing stateTracks whether you have a paid licenceYes — locallyOnly to ExtensionPay

No document data — contract text, clause content, risk flags, or any other legal information — is ever written to persistent storage or transmitted off your device.

4. What TermsLens never does

Hard guarantees

  • Never uploads documents or extracted clauses to any server
  • Never transmits contract text, risk results, or legal analysis
  • Never sends analytics, usage data, or telemetry
  • Never injects third-party scripts or loads remote code
  • Never creates a user account or requires login
  • Never accesses your browsing history, passwords, or other tabs
  • Never sells, shares, or monetises any user data
  • Never uses your documents for training or any AI/ML purpose

5. Permissions explained

TermsLens requests only the Chrome permissions necessary for its core function:

  • activeTab — Allows TermsLens to read the contents of the currently active tab when you invoke the extension. This is how it accesses the document you have open.
  • storage — Used to save your extension settings and licence state locally in Chrome.
  • scripting — Used to inject the scanning script into the active tab so TermsLens can read and analyse the page content.
  • downloads — Used to export risk reports to your device when you choose to download them.
  • file:///* — Allows TermsLens to scan local PDF and HTML files you open in your browser.

TermsLens does not request broad host permissions for all websites. It only operates on the tab you explicitly activate it on, or on local files you open yourself.

6. Third parties (ExtensionPay)

TermsLens uses ExtensionPay (powered by Stripe) for optional paid licence management. When you purchase or validate a licence, ExtensionPay communicates with Stripe’s infrastructure to process payment.

ExtensionPay receives only the information necessary to manage your subscription — it never receives any document text, risk analysis results, or legal content from your scans.

Apart from ExtensionPay, TermsLens has no third-party integrations, SDKs, or analytics libraries. The extension makes zero other outbound network requests during normal operation.

7. GDPR and personal data

Because TermsLens processes documents entirely on your device and never transmits them, no personal data from your contracts or legal documents is collected, stored, or processed by ClickVaultHQ under the meaning of the GDPR.

If you are located in the EEA or UK, your rights under the GDPR — including the right to access, rectify, and erase personal data — apply to the limited billing data held by ExtensionPay/Stripe when you make a purchase. You may exercise these rights by contacting us at clickvaulthq@gmail.com.

TermsLens does not process legal documents on behalf of any third party. Your documents remain under your sole control at all times.

8. Children’s privacy

TermsLens is a productivity tool intended for adults and business professionals. We do not knowingly collect any data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will address it immediately.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify users via the Chrome Web Store listing update notes.

Continued use of TermsLens after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
